Jen,

I'm so incredibly sorry for you and Dozer. I'm here crying as I read through your blog, and I just hope you can make peace and reach acceptance with this.

Do you mind if I ask about Neoplasene? My boy, also incredible, is on it right now, also for hemangiosarcoma of the spleen. Being on Neoplasene is supposed to mean that I can't use herbs and supplements for him, but I'm nervous about that... Was the Neo helping Dozer much? Did you start on it early on? And, if you don't mind my asking, what dosage were you giving Dozer per lb of bodyweight? I'm trying depserately to ascertain as to whether we should remain on Neo alone, drop Neo and go back to herbs treatment with acupuncture, or if I should defy Dr Fox and do a combination of the two methods... I hate to bother you when you're mourning, but if you can help to fill me in as to how Dozer's treatment went, then it might help me to better weigh the pros and cons for myself.

Dog bless,
Val

Hi Val,

First I would like to say that I'm so sorry that your little man has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. It's very difficult to deal with and the resources are scarce, unfortunately.

But I really appreciate that you've read this blog and want to know more. That's why I started it, so that others could learn from Dozer's journey. I had hoped for a more positive outcome, but unfortunately he lost his battle. I do appreciate your kind words though. We miss him very much and our house is very empty without him (even though we currently have 6 others dogs).

But to answer some of your questions. Dozer actually was on herbs and the Neoplasene at the same time. He took a variety of Chinese herbs plus essential fatty acids, immune support and digestive enzymes. We initially injected the Neoplasene into the mass (foot), which you can't do b/c of the location but I don't recommend it. He was in so much pain following that injection and it bothered him until he passed away. We were actually planning on amputation the leg b/c of the pain but then he got sick and we found out that it had spread to his spleen. Actually, I think it was probably there the entire time, but was missed on the radiographs and ultrasound. I do recommend repeating those often. That's one of my regrets is that we didn't push for more scans. Maybe then we would have caught it before it was too late. He also took the Neoplasene orally. I do believe in Neoplasene and that it can work. And there's another blog that I follow where a dog, Addie, is doing wonderful on the Neoplasene. She should be nearing a year. You can find the link earlier in the blog. But as for Dozer it really didn't seem to help him, unfortunately. As for the dosage I need to pull out his records and I'll get back to you.

By the way, what kind of dog do you have? And how old is he? I'm just curious b/c I'm trying to compile more stories and eventually want to start a website with all of them. Plus, I want to start a non-profit to help others with veterinary expenses.

Thanks again. Hope this was helpful.

Best Regards,
Jen
