This blog is dedicated to my dog Dozer who was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. I'm hoping to create a database of canine cancer and treatment options so please share your stories with me at info@sweetbarkpitbullrescue.com
Hopefully those of us unfortunate to hear the word "cancer" can work together to not only help our own dogs but others as well.

hello.
I just wanted to add my own update with my dog and her hemangiosarcoma cancer.
So - December 23rd 2008 she was weak, low temp, white gums, and not eating. Emergency vet did an ultrasound and found a mass on her spleen, and took blood that they found in her stomach.
They estimated 1 month tops.
A second opinion stated that 1 month is optimistic and that she'd probably go in a few days. That was 11 days ago. A total of 16 days after I first noticed and took her to the emergency vet.
My dog is not a good candidate for surgery as she does not do well with anesthesia so I'm doing my best to care for her at home and give her a peaceful passage into death.
I'm feeding her chicken and rice, some ham from time to time, and cheese because she's an addict.
I was also told to give her canned pumpkin as she started to have trouble passing any solid wastes. No progress on that so far.
I feel the the lack of bowel movements is due to the extreme bloating she has due to all the internal bleeding.
She's fighting this hard and not showing signs of "too tired". She still tries to play, but gets worn out faster. With the bloating she just looks annoyed.
I am going to my vet today to have them drain some of the blood out of her abdomen in an attempt to keep her comfortable.
I hope Dozer is doing better.
Thank you for this blog.
