Chinese herbs! Yuck
Well, so far he loves his new diet, except for the chinese herbs! I have to disguise them for him otherwise he looks at me with terribly sad eyes. I'm going to ask if there is a better way to give them...maybe in capsule form? Other than that so far so good. He's taking everything but the EFA, which he'll start next week. My other dogs are loving this diet too.

My dog Isaac (Golden) was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma of the spleen in May. He'd seeded his omentum a little also. Tried high protein diet and he just wouldn't eat it. Prefers his old food or the eukanuba Lab food. All the expensive high protein stuff he turned his nose up at...Sometimes can get him to eat salmon, but only cooked -- not from a can...Anyway, he's been doing remarkably well with his food, missing link and yogurt. Vet gave me Chinese herbs but same response -- yuck!! Put him off his food for ~3 days...Today I bought empty gel capsules and put the powder in those. It's very easy and the taste and smell are no longer an issue. I'm relieved to see him take them. I put his pills in a big glob od cream cheese stuck to a spoon upside down so he licks it off and swallows it straightway. I feel much better knowing he'll be getting the herbs. No idea if they'll do anything for him. Really wish I could get him interested in Wellness core or similar, but no luck so far. Thoughts?? BTW, cheapest place for the empty capsules is Costco. Have to order them though. If you don't go there, they're available at health food and herbal remedy stores. Good luck! (Deb)
